<description>#shorts The Chang'e-5 mission's lunar basalt samples originated from an olivine-bearing pyroxenite mantle source, ascending through the plumbing system and accumulating at the top of the lithospheric mantle. The magmatic–thermal evolution model suggests abundant low-solidus pyroxenites in the mantle source with a slightly enhanced inventory of radioactive elements can explain lunar volcanism up to 2 billion years ago.
